There are primarily a few explanations used for why the moon should effect animal and human biology: - Gravitational impacts directly - Gravitational impact indirectly through tides - Electromagnetic impact from moon's impact on magnetosphere - Electromagnetic impact by moon disturbing the solar wind I think this interaction of the moon with the magnetosphere or solar wind is the more likely culprit for behaviour.
