# Investment Research and Analysis Process & Tools These are some of the tools I can use to implement the [[Framework for analysis and decision-making]] within my [[Investment Framework]]. There are a few tools that I use to track news and updates on markets, outside of capital IQ and e-mail. Having a way to organize and filter through information is obviously important to getting an understanding of what is happening in markets and world more broadly. However we don't spend enough time thinking about the tools we use and the ways we could improve that process. I have only recently started thinking about how I can improve this process for myself. Here are some of the tools I use now to help me with day-to-day tracking of news and market updates. I would love to hear about other people's processes and tools in order to improve mine. ## Great Sites/Newsletters ##### The Market Ear ##### Trend Newsletter ## Optimising time in the Process ### Where do people spend most of their time? - Analysts probably spend too much time gathering data and information from news and sources they are familiar with - They also probably spend too much time gathering prepackaged small insights from other investors (investors opinions) ### Where do they not spend enough time? - Updating their models and lenses through which they generate hypothesis and models - Dont spend enough time creating alternative hypothesis. Always have one, or maybe two hypothesis. Alternative hypothesis should be generated as they are the risks to any given hypothesis, alongside the variations in factors of the main hypothesis. - Monitoring and updating the models or hypothesis as new information is gathered. - What else? # Q - How does sell side research fit into this process - How does twitter fit into this process - How does email fit into this process
