Ant colonies, like markets and human societies are complex systems with different agent types and interactions. Researchers studying ants are learning about the emergent behaviour of ants and how it can be modelled. Can we use their research and models in order to understand or even model the behaviour market participants? For example, can we relate the spread of panic behaviour of ants to the market crashes? Have there been agent based models calibrated on ant colonies in order to predict the future behaviour of the colony? How widespread is the use of quantitative methods, particularly from statistical mechanics, network theory and complexity, in the study of ants? ##### Related [[Complexity]], [[Econophysics]], [[Myrmecology]], [[Emergence]]
